Hello

I’m Lance Parkin, and it’s just been announced that I’ve got a new Doctor Who book coming out in late December this year.

What I hope to do here is … well, first and foremost, persuade you to buy my book, Doctor Who – The Eyeless. I might as well be upfront about that. Buy my book when it comes out on Boxing Day. Go on, go on, go on.

I also hope to shed some light on how I wrote this book. I know that the process of writing a book is something that fascinates people. I’m not claiming to be an expert, or that my way is the only way, or anything like that. What I’ll do is try to explain how I went about writing this Doctor Who book.

OK … my plan is to post at least once a week. Comments welcome. I don’t know any season four spoilers, though, and I’m afraid they haven’t given me the phone numbers for David Tennant, Russell T Davies or Kylie Minogue. If they did, they’d have been yours for a small fee, I promise. But they didn’t.

Hello Lance! Congratulations on your very welcome and four-years-overdue addition to the Doctor Who writing team. Perhaps the Moff will let you pitch an idea for television with a bit of luck!

It's an automatic buy from me Lance. I've read enough of your books to know that.

Warlords of Utopia was bloody marvellous.

Hooray! I love your Doctor Who novels, especially Father Time, so I'm really pleased that you're finally getting to write for the new series novels.

But whatever happened to the Miranda comics?

Nicely worded. Thanks. I enjoy the gift of the printed word and I enjoy the use of techno thingies. So thanks, again. I will buy your book, problem is being in the U.S. with a rural, Mid-Western (think Chicago or St. Louis) area in will be well after your Boxing Day, it'll be the first opportunity I get to travel the sixty miles to a real bookstore. I look forward to reading though, good luck.
